I installed Strawberry version 1.1.3 using MX Linux (package manager) and now tried to compile the Spotify plugin. First of all, my Cargo-C is not new enough (Debian has 0.14, at least 0.21 is required) and an upgrade is not possible without further ado. Ultimately, all you have to do is move the libgstspotify.so file to the appropriate /usr/lib folder. Can't you just download a corresponding file that can then be inserted into the appropriate place?

Just ask and thank you for answers.

I'll wait for the new version, as I think other Debian Bookworm users (yes, MX is based on Bookworm) will also have problems compiling the plugin. That's the only downside to Debian - it's stable, but some packages are older (cargo-c is version 0.29 on Ubuntu, 0.14 on Debian).

But I'm very happy that the plugin can otherwise simply be turned off (with Clementine it got stuck in the login when Spotify no longer supported the plugin). Strawberry is otherwise really great, I'll stick with it. Thanks!

You could copy it in, but then someone else needs to build it on the same distribution version so it's binary compatible, either MX Linux or the binary compatible Debian system (Bookworm I assume?).

You also need to use a development version of strawberry as the required access token changes aren't in the 1.1.3 release, but I plan to release a new version soon.
