Alternate Cover
-
Hello. I'm new to Strawberry, coming from the Windoze side of life and have been a devoted fan of Aimp for a very long time. But in making Linux Suse Leap my daily driver, I have begun auditioning Strawberry as a native player and I like it.
I do have a suggestion/request regarding covers. I would like to see an option whereby if a cover was not retrievable from playing a local file or streaming for example, an alternate image could be specified. Frankly, the default 'empty CD case' is rather unsightly. I have searched and if there is a way to do this, I cannot find it.
Thanks! Slew

If you want to do something like this with local files, you can always share the image covers with the name "Cover", and Strawberry automatically will read it and put the image as the cover image while you play your music. Is the way I use my covers because I don't like MP3Tag to directly put them.

@cherrystraw Hello, and thanks for the note. So I do have my local music with album covers and Strawberry displays them just fine. But in the case where a cover is not found OR more to the point, a radio station stream where the MP3tag info isn't being passed or a cover cannot be found. At that point I would want to indicate a cover to use instead of the default image. Or, if the default image is stored on my local disk, I could just replace it.
I've not found the default image so probably hard coded?
If so, and no work around, the feature would be nice.

@slewtoyou Yeah, the function could be really nice with the Radio stations, because I have understood it is impossible to use covers when we are talking about live radio. The thing I mentioned is only available for local files, not for Radio stations; So for now you can only suggest this function to the developers.

@cherrystraw Exactly. In fact, radio stations that transmit data on the current stream get a search for a cover from online sources by Strawberry and often a cover will be shown. It is often not the correct one (different album or artist, depending on the tag data sent by the streamer), but a cover at least.
If I wanted to make my own compile I could replace the baked in cdcase.png with my own, but I do not want to get involved in that. I assume the developer group scouts this forum and will see the suggestion and hopefully find some value in it.
