      I would prefer that artist names be sorted “raw”, with e.g. “The Doors” under “T” and not “D”. I think of the name as one unit – I don’t think to myself “I feel like listening to Doors right now”. I would take a slight overrepresentation of the letter “T” over having to remember to mentally strip “The” from what I’m looking up but only in Strawberry (not in my file explorer) and only in English (French « les » or German „die” don’t get the same treatment).

      Would it make sense to have an option to not do the current ‘smart’ sorting?

        There is a tag for "sort order"; if you're willing to tag your music, you can probably achieve this without changing anything about Strawberry. (Unless Strawberry ignores sort order tags.)
