Installation Issues (I really don't know what I'm doing)
-
Greetings! This is, well, I'm a bit embarrassed to be asking this, but better be a fool for five minutes than forever, right?
So, here's the situation. I've used Strawberry for some time now, been very happy with how it went, DID happen to skip several updates simply because I couldn't be bothered.
When I attempted to download and install the latest, however, it was repeatedly flagged by my antivirus software. And while I've negotiated that issue with some programs in the past, the installation then proceeded to fail to extract/read a number of vital files. After giving up and pressing Ignore a lot, the program SEEMED to have installed, but failed to run properly because of missing files.For context, I'm running Windows 11 (ugh i know right), on a ROG Strix G15CK (Intel i7-10700KF processor), and I've had pretty much the same failed result from every available Setup file (which I downloaded from https://www.patreon.com/posts/strawberry-1-2-144341548 )
And like I said, I'm happy to be laughed at or be pointed to an obvious answer so long as I do get to use Strawberry again ^^So what do we think? Any suggestions, or do you need additional info from me?

@Proteus454
Which setup file did you use (there are 5 different ones), and what anti-virus program, and most importantly is your anti-virus up-to-date?
I tested all the installers, none of the 3 msvc based has any detection, but the mingw x64 has detection from trapmine, ikarus and google, while the x86 one has a couple of more from Avast and AVG (the worst anti-virus programs made), these are false-positives typical for programs based on MinGW-W64, they just matches files based on a certain pattern or use AI, that's one of the reasons we have MSVC version instead. But as you can see by the reports, all trustworthy antivirus programs (Microsoft, Bitdefender, Symantic, McAfree, ESET, etc) does not detect anything.
So I suggest to either use the MSVC version ( if you are using the MinGW version), or you can report this to your anti-virus software as false-positive (as some of these require a paid account / subscription to report false-positives).StrawberrySetup-1.2.15-msvc-x64.exe:

@jonas Hmm...
After checking that everything's up to date, and using the MSVC installer (which I believe I had previous), Strawberry is up and running once more. Even remembers which files I had in my playlist!Thanks for your timely suggestions and forbearance! I truly appreciate it.
