      Hello,

I was wondering what differences in regards to audio quality would be possible with the various output options. As I understand setting this option to "Output to a sound card via ALSA" allows the application to bypass Pulseaudio or Pipewire and directly interface with ALSA which then interfaces with my USB DAC. I also believe setting the ALSA plugin to hw further allows ALSA to directly interface with the DAC without software upscaling, etc.

However, I am curious how this compares to the "Wrapper audio sink for automatically detected audio sink" option. I am running Pipewire on my system and I understand with this option selected music played through Strawberry will run through that. How does Pipewire compare to outputting to ALSA?

And between ALSA and OSS which would be the best to output to?

If anyone can help provide some guidance it is appreciated.

      Thank you

OSS is not used anymore, it is just an emulation to ALSA.
I don't know about Pipewire, I have never used it before, I think you get better answer from Pipewire directly.
