I said my opinion before, and I'll say it again: Paying five bucks for Strawberry is not that crazy, and supporting Jonas is completely optional, you can only suscribe a month and wait for the next update to renew that subscription; is not like if you don't pay a month the program gets completely blocked or something.
Considering he is releasing versions for Windows, MacOS and Linux all the same, he's investing a lot of time and knowledge to fix bugs, offer new functions, etc. Naturally, there'll be bugs and problems as always. If big enterprises have trouble fixing their software, I imagine a dude programming alone in his PC would have all those same problems too.
I can't entirely blame him for taking this decision. I personally like Strawberry and support him with a small amount of money is the least I can do. That last part is only personal, I've seen people moving on to other options and that's fine too.
