    • Skip leading articles when sorting albums

This is an option that used to be available, but has been removed for some releases already. Unfortunately, with my new distribution (Ubuntu 25.04) I cannot install an older version of Strawberry anymore.

Anyway, my request is to make it possible to skip leading articles when sorting albums. This is already available for artists, but I also prefer to have this available for albums. I'm OK with an extra option in the Settings menu to select this for albums, or to have it included with the option for artists (and then expand the text in the Settings menu to indicate it also applies to albums). But it is a feature I'd really like. An albums called 'The Best Of' should belong under the B, not the T. The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan should be sorted under F, whereas The Wall belongs under W.
Anyway, I think my request is clear. 🙂

      Thank you.

    • Group by Album function not working correctly

      Hi,

I've noticed that for a while (certainly since 1.1.1) that the Group by Album functionality is not working correctly. Though I understand the rationality behind making separate entries for artists in the situation that two (or more) artists have the same album name (Live or Greatest Hits) it makes the overview unworkable with compilations. Can the functionality please be returned so that Group by Album again has one entry for each album name? In addition there might then be a category like Group by Album/Artist where under an album entry you can then see which artists have albums by that name in case you want to specifically play Greatest Hits by Billy Joel and not have Greatest Hits by Queen included.

Furthermore, I noticed (certainly since version 1.2.6) that in the sorting of the albums in the Group by Album category the sorting doesn't disregard any leading articles (like A or The) anymore. This also seems like a step back to me, to find The Complete Collection, The Joshua Tree or The Seeds Of Love located under T instead of C, J and S respectively. Is this also intentional? And if so, can there be an option to disregard it, like the option available for artists.
      Thank you.

    • RE: 1.1.0-rc4 Compilation or various artists are no longer grouped in a single entrance when grouping by albums

@jonas No, I don't think the album is marked as a compilation. I've never marked albums as compilation when ripping them (with Asunder or whatever I used previously). I'm not using the Album Artist tag either (never had to). When I group by Artist/Album (the other grouping I often use besides Album) I see the artists all with their own entry and then the (compilation) albums below them. Apart from 3 or 4 songs I don't have anything labelled as Various Artists.

@jonas Hi, is there any estimation when this correction will be available in a regular build of Strawberry? I've just installed version 1.1.3 (running on Ubuntu 24.10) and I'm still facing this issue. When grouping by Album I still get multiple entries for each compilation (one entry for every artist on that compilation) instead of just one entry for each album (name).
      Thanks.
