I'm sad too about the fact things changed for worst since the decease of Steve Jobs; I always knew Tim Cook was making a deplorable job as the new CEO (Remember that iPhone X presentation for the 10th anniversay of the original iPhone which was more a spit to the face of the user than a real tribute to the original phone?) but I didn't knew things were this messed. Looks like you know Apple more than me so I don't have too much to add as a feedback, so I'll thank you again for writing all this for me, and for the rest of the people who's reading in this thread.

And thanks to Jonas for doing such an excellent Music Player, even for Mac users; I think Mac users needs a hero since the most recent OS systems doesn't have iTunes anymore and the number of music players is low.

Clementine is not URL encoding / decoding the file paths according to the specifications. Clementine is doing it wrong, and is probably unable to load the playlists saved by strawberry for this reason, since Strawberry URL encodes some characters.

Another difference is that Clementine is saving metadata. For Strawberry, there is a setting for enabling saving playlists with metadata, in the settings, under playlist. If you enable that setting it will save metadata like Clementine does.

I suggest "touch" a file name, then you can overwrite it.

@sebastjava I am using the mute on the Strawberry icon on my toolbar. I think I saw someone else post about this same issue.

The skip doesn't happen here with a 10-second mute. I have to have it on mute for a few minutes at least. When it skips it sounds like it is playing the track very fast. It's unintelligible noise. Sometimes it skips only a short time and others it skips all the way to the end of the track. I can reproduce it at will. As far as I can recall, Strawberry has always done this on my system.

While playing with mute I noticed that it does not mute right away. Sometimes it takes 10 seconds or more for the sound to stop. I don't know why I never noticed that before.

I turned off the analyzer and played with mute some more. Sometimes when I mute the sound would stop right away and the slider at the bottom of the screen would stop moving. No way to tell if it was playing since it was muted. After I unmuted it didn't start playing again so I click the stop button and then play and it started to play again. Later I repeated the process but this time I went to do something else and after a short time It started playing.

This is that big of a deal. I have been living with it since I started using Strawberry. I and the other person that mentioned the skipping may be the only people using the mute switch.

Compilation is a audio tag written to files.
If it is set then the songs will go into Various Artists, but the compilation tag is not the only factor, it can go into Various Artists automatically if more than one artists are detected for a specific album, but it can be manually overridden by the user too.

@anteater I don't know if it's that Placebo effect you mention, but I'm using Windows 7, and Strawberry sounds definitely better than Windows Media Player, the default player.

@gentlegiantfan I'm on ArchLinux using Pipewire, it works really nice and the sound quality in my opinion is a lot better.
