I'm not sure why you are getting this error, the AppImage works for me with streaming.
I suggest that you try to install strawberry from a regular deb package.
Or use the repository available: https://launchpad.net/~jonaski/+archive/ubuntu/strawberry

I think it should be possible to enable D-Bus on macOS.
Some instructions here: https://github.com/zbentley/dbus-osx-examples/blob/master/installation/README.md

The macOS versions of Strawberry is compiled with MPRIS2 D-Bus support.
I have never tested it though, so I can't say if it works or not.

I think maybe it gets stuck if you run make dmg more than once without deleting strawberry.app first.
So to build a second time, remove strawberry.app directory, and run make install and make dmg again.

@edward I figured out the issue with settings not being saved. For some reason the config file, strawberry.conf in .config, was owned by root so Strawberry was denied write permission.. I changed owner to Pi and issue was resolved.

I can confirm that version: 0.8.5.158.g5256d795-Qt6-x64 is unaffected and the library scan works normally!

The code is there to workaround a gstreamer bug.
However directsound is deprecated and will be removed sooner or later so it's not a priority to fix it.
It will be resolved when we switch to wasapi2.

+1 for this request (but I wont build myself)
I made a similar feature request also here ... unfortunately without any feedback until now...

I hoped at least something like in the cover manager is already implemented 😕
