    • Need Help Understanding 'Date' data

      Linux Ubuntu
      Strawberry 1.2.16
Earlier I decided to play music that I hadn't played for a while.
I sorted Last Played and discovered that the history only went back to 1/2/26(?)
      Why?
      Is this an undocumented feature?

I visited the Strawberry site and discoved that 1.2.17 had been released.
      I upgraded to Strawberry 1.2.17

      Playing around I noticed that:
sorted on Last Played - 50,316 of 51,170 tracks have never been played, despite having date in Play Count. i.e 854 tracks have been played, despite 28,106 tracks having data in Play Count.

sorted on Date Created - 51,029 of 51,170 tracks have a date of 11/6/25 (No idea why, i've been using Strawberry for a while)

sorted on Date Modified - All tracks have a date of 1/20/26 (That was when I updated to 1.2.17)

Fun Fact: A Play Count sort reveals 'Wish You Were Here' has been played 23 times, despite Never being played (Last Played).

    • RE: [SOLVED] Smart Playlist help

@maybl8 This is how I'd do it:
Artist - does not contain - Beatles
      Year - greater than - 1959
      Year - less than 1970

    • RE: 'Original Year' & 'Year' tags - What's the difference?

      @silver-sun FYI: I'm using mp3 files.
I haven't experimented since my original post.

    • Collection / Display Options

      The option to:
'Skip leading articles ... when sorting artist names'
also affects Album sorts in the sidebar.

    • 'Original Year' & 'Year' tags - What's the difference?

      My environment:
      Linux, Ubuntu 24.02
Large monitor, normal viewing distance 5 feet (I don't have a TV)
      Strawberry 1.2.3

      Problem
      To my way of thinking;
a 'compilation' album, collects a sample of an artists work, produced over a period of years.
a 'Various Artists' album is something else

Over time, I've associated the original issue date with tracks on 'compilation' albums.

As a new user, I'm experimenting with various sidebar sorts.
I've just sorted my albums in the sidebar, using 'Group by Album artist/Year - Album'.
But the 'compilation' albums were separated further by the year the individual track was released.

I then experimented with 'year' and 'original year'.
Displaying both fields in the Playlist view, it appears that if you change one of the fields, the other changes as well, i.e.
change the date in 'year' and the 'original year' date changes
change the date in 'original year' and the 'year' date changes

It would be useful in the 'compilation' scenario to have a 'year' for the album release and 'original year' for the track release date. This is impossible to achieve if the fields cannot be independently populated.
Or am I doing something wrong?

    • Column Heading - Drop Down List

      My environment:
      Linux, Ubuntu 24.02
Large monitor, normal viewing distance 5 feet (I don't have a TV)
      Strawberry 1.2.2 (Upgraded yesterday)

      Problem:
When choosing to add a column to a view, a list of available columns is shown. Unfortunately, one of the 'sort' items I use most (Rating) is not visible; because, I believe, it's at the bottom of the list and the last visible item 'Mood' is only partially visible.
(I am a new user and have found that if I create new Smart Playlists, I will, eventually, create one which will show me the Rating column.)

      Suggestion:
Make it possible to resize the 'column heading' list, or format it as 2 or 3 columns, of a fixed size, that's kept well away from the edge of the monitor display.
