      @jonas
      Sorry for the late reply. I thought I would be notified by email if someone replied.

      OK, I understand that the replay gain data is not displayed in Strawberry, but I have another reason to believe that it is not being applied at all : I mainly listen to randomized playlists with a large number of tracks, and the output volume varies significantly from one track to the next. I often have to adjust the volume manually, which I don't need to do in foobar2000, for example. To me, it really sounds like there is no replay gain at all. I also hear no difference when I set it on and off in the settings.

      @musicamaster For the avoidance of doubt, are your audio files indexed as part of a collection, or are they simply in directories? They need to be part of a collection in order to be included in the DB structure. That DB is where many different fields are added, such as the play count.

      @asenz I have the same problem on linux. It appears to be an issue with the Pipewire output. Some more searching finally led me to:

      https://github.com/strawberrymusicplayer/strawberry/issues/1668

      tl;dr: Change the output to PulseAudio, and the problem should go away (assuming you have pipewire-pulse installed).

      @Camber
      Edit ~/.config/strawberry/strawberry.conf with a text editor (like Kate), and delete the entire [SerializedSmartPlaylists] section.

      @WeeGerGai sorry for the necroposting but i would also love to see this be implemented, their database of (unsynced) lyrics is pretty massive compared to all the other lyric services that strawberry currently supports, and their website (https://lrclib.net) has good insight on its own API and how to implement it.

      oh yeah this has been really tedious! fixing the metadata in my songs then i add lyrics on the app and the date is gone.... that and the fact you can't group your collection by original release date, only the year. it definitly should be possible. no reason for those things not to be

      @jonas

      Thank you for the clarification. Tuxedo OS is based on Ubuntu with the KDE desktop on top, that may the reason why it runs more recent versions of Qt.

      Out of curiosity I checked the Strawberry Player on my Mac, it runs with Qt6.10. So the Linux/Ubuntu version is a bit behind.

      So for the time being, I have installed Clementine on my Tuxedo machine, it's a bit dated, but as it only requires Qt5.X, it runs.

      @jonas Hmm...
      After checking that everything's up to date, and using the MSVC installer (which I believe I had previous), Strawberry is up and running once more. Even remembers which files I had in my playlist!

      Thanks for your timely suggestions and forbearance! I truly appreciate it.

      Another potentially useful datum:

      a0a8971f-b85b-401c-8888-552e8227d7c8-image.png

      All House genre tracks dumped into a playlist, sorted by composer (my 'date added' column): works EXCEPT 2023.01.23, and 2024.10.30, both sort out of order. 2023.01.23 weirdly don't sort next to each other.

      e8c7d396-4d10-42d0-bff5-0d5060ff3107-image.png

      unicode characters are normal for the correctly sorted entries,

      bea93f1b-ab1a-4457-8091-6e73ec6bc161-image.png

      but also the incorrectly sorted ones, so it looks like it's not a characters issue (I've typed all of these manually so inserting unicode seemed unlikely but just in case)

      They changed the API to not allow localhost anymore, have to use 127.0.0.1 instead:

      I don't believe such a guide exists, at least not on the Strawberry Wiki.

      I can offer a few basic suggestions for a beginner.

      Strawberry plays music in playlists. No matter what the source of the song, it will always open in a playlist. Playlist management is too lengthy to get into here, but you can create, label, save and "favorite" playlists.

      Strawberry can play from any folder on your computer by selecting "Files" in the sidebar.

      If you go a step further and point Strawberry to a folder in Settings > Collection, it will show the songs as a "library" when selecting "Collection" in the sidebar.

      I would hold off with using anything that says "Organzie Files" at first. (There are naming and sorting options that you may want to consider.)

      Go through all the settings, slowly and methodically. Make a note of your changes so you can revert if necessary.

      Use the tool-tip notes by hovering your cursor over icons, etc.

      And use your right click to display the many options available.

      @jonas Good call -- I've traced it to the Linux applet Enhanced Sound, as removing that from the panel resolves it instantly! Thanks, I'll get onto claudiux about it, as I thought I'd turned off any features that involve music players...
