I notice dsun above saying 'I'm running Manjaro ARM on it and Strawberry is in the software repository.' How do we get Raspberry Pi OS to include it too? - Strawberry is so much better than VLC for music. Nicer UI, album covers, remembers playlists etc etc. It would be a real 'plus' for the RPi community.

I'm running a different version of chromaprint which may br causing the issue.

chromaprint-fftw 1.5.0-2.

I can't change that at the moment, but it may be the cause.

@Gemini62167 Thank you for bothering in writing such a long post about this Apple theme. I'm sad too about the fact things changed for worst since the decease of Steve Jobs; I always knew Tim Cook was making a deplorable job as the new CEO (Remember that iPhone X presentation for the 10th anniversay of the original iPhone which was more a spit to the face of the user than a real tribute to the original phone?) but I didn't knew things were this messed. Looks like you know Apple more than me so I don't have too much to add as a feedback, so I'll thank you again for writing all this for me, and for the rest of the people who's reading in this thread.

And thanks to Jonas for doing such an excellent Music Player, even for Mac users; I think Mac users needs a hero since the most recent OS systems doesn't have iTunes anymore and the number of music players is low.

Check that strawberry-tagreader is running with ps -xua | grep strawberry

There are several issues with the Spotify support in release 1.1.1, so I've been working on fixing those.

The blocking of the GUI when switching songs is fixed. Streaming being limited to 128kbps is fixed. The favorites and search results returning too many artists and albums is fixed.

However, today I notice that Spotify's authentication for the actual streaming is no longer working, there is some discussion here:

Hopefully it will be resolved, and then possible to provide a access token to gstreamer so we do not have to provide additional login for the actual streaming too.

@totti_777 I just added my Radio to Strawberry... previously, I loaded the contents of the 'Radio' tab and ended up with one or two I liked, but couldn't work out how to 'add radio'.

So then - as with PyRadio which I usually use - I mostly added those by copying the URL from radio-browser.

You can do the same job with an m3u playlist:

I save playlists separate from my media players after having lost some in the past - so this works well (and Strawberry is good at getting Lyrics for many stations) so that I removed my alternative GUI radio player.

If a pitch bend function was included, it also should include timestretching! A nice function too.

The other alternative is to install version 1.0.4 (https://files.strawberrymusicplayer.org/StrawberrySetup-1.0.4-msvc-x64.exe) first, start strawberry once and exit, this will upgrade the database schema to a supported version, then install the latest version (1.0.23) again.

I choose this path to maintain the db contents going forward. Everything went flawlessly, and v1.0.23 now up and running! Cheers 🙂

Good news: today gstreamer1-1.24.4-1 was rolled out by the Fedora Team and everything works fine now on my good old Lenovo M58 🙂
So you were right: the error was in gstreamer and not in Strawberry!

@Dryst You can still obtain the 1.0.23 version from achive sites and use that. That was released for free and will let you test the software. Then you can decide if that version is good enough and stay there forever like I am on the windows boxes I have or you can decide to pay money for a music app. I backed up this version myself since it works well enough for my needs on the only windows boxes I use.

I know this is an old thread, but I just installed KDE connect on Linux Mint and Android, and it works perfect for what I need.

I have control of pause, play, fast-forward or reverse, previous or next song and shuffle on or off. That is all I need.
